🥩 Filling:
  • 1 lb ground elk
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • ¼ cup diced onion
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • ½ tsp Italian seasoning
🍄 Base:
  • 12 large mushrooms stems removed
🧀 Topping:
  • ½ cup shredded cheese

Instructions
    Preheat:
    1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
    Cook Filling:
    1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook 3–4 minutes until softened.
    2. Add garlic and chopped mushroom stems; cook 2–3 minutes.
    Add Elk:
    1. Add ground elk, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Cook until browned.
    Stuff Mushrooms:
    1. Fill mushroom caps evenly with the elk mixture.
    Add Cheese:
    1. Top each mushroom with shredded cheese.
    Bake:
    1. Bake for 18–20 minutes until mushrooms are tender and cheese is melted and golden.

    Notes

    Elk is naturally lean, so avoid overcooking the filling. These stuffed mushrooms are perfect as an appetizer or side dish and pair well with simple dips or sauces.
